FREQUENT ASKED QUESTIONS

WE ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS

What is the meaning of ancestor? What information is obtained by an ancestry test?

An ancestor is a direct predecessor who is related to an individual by kinship. When we talk about ancestors, we refer to the ancestors of a person, family or group of people who have given rise to this common ancestry.

With an ancestry test we compare your genetic information with that of thousands of individuals from different reference populations and ethnicities. In this way, we will not determine your country of birth or the origin of your ancestors or their origin, as it is not based on an analysis of past genetic populations. The information you will get is which current populations have similar genetics to yours and in what percentage. This would imply that you and the people from those populations represented in your report share a common ancestor.
